To find true and lasting health, ditch the diet.

You want to lose weight – and keep it off. You can do it. You just need to change your eating habits.To change your eating habits, you need to retrain your brain.That’s where I come in.

I give people the tools they need to reawaken the body-brain connection. Through our work together, you’ll see your feelings, thoughts, and mindset more clearly – and learn how they affect what you do and how you feel.

With this program, you will:

  • Learn to calm the emotional center of your brain through breath
  • Rediscover what real hunger feels like
  • Practice truly tasting food, finding satisfaction in each bite
  • Uncover situations when emotions trigger unhealthy eating
  • Learn to eat the right amount by listening to your body

The Philosophy

Here’s what I believe:

  • Diets are unhealthy because they are built on guilt and shame
  • Pills, apps, and packaged meals don’t result in long-term weight loss
  • Willpower is a myth
  • Healthy habits are the truth

The Details

My program consists of a series of interactive sessions that give you the tools you need to increase self-awareness, heighten your senses, and uncover the beliefs and behaviors that get in the way of healthy eating.

In our first 90-minute session, I learn in-depth about you and your goals.

Then we meet for a series of 45 minute sessions, either in person or via Zoom, Skype or FaceTime.

Exercises are structured, conversations are tailored. Most clients complete 15 sessions, but the amount can vary based on your goals, schedule, and budget.

About Kristen

I grew up in Oregon with four brothers and had a rough-and-tumble childhood full of beach trips and sporting events. My family worked hard and played hard. I was a gymnast and volleyball player, activities that taught me the importance of determination and the power of practice to make progress and achieve your goals.

I was a long-time elementary and middle school sports coach and counselor. At Portland State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and community health, I fell in love with behavioral psychology, learning how emotions, thoughts, and actions influence our behavior. I went on to become a certified health and wellness coach through the WellCoach program and attained past certifications in diet and exercise from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Heart Association, and the American Council on Exercise. I recently acquired my MB-EAT certification.

I’m a married mother of four adult children and an avid reader about the body and brain. I’m a big fan of the science-based work of Jean Kristeller, PhD, co-founder of the Center for Mindful Eating and author of “The Joy of Half a Cookie.”
